Parent Interest Clubs

Come along with your child to our Maths Club every Friday morning from 8am-8:30am in the library.  Teachers and Teacher Aides will be available to help answer questions and explain and model maths strategies that your child is having difficulty with. Drop in with a quick question or an area of need that your child has but be sure to come along with your child so you can learn ways to help them at home.
Hope to see you there! Lyndall Krost or Kellie Martin

Palmwoods Pete Reader’s Club is happening Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8 – 8:30 on the library deck from Week 3, Term 1. The aim of this club is to try and develop resilient readers at Palmwoods State School.

I know how difficult it is in a busy family to get to hear your children read regularly, but it is paramount that all children obtain these skills and develop an enjoyment of reading from an early age and this program can assist with that. I’m also looking for parents and peer mentors to volunteer some time to help support our young readers on these mornings.

Teachers and parents can assist in identifying particular students that will benefit from participation in this program as readers or peer mentors, although all students at Palmwoods can participate and we will be encouraging them to show up and share their love of reading.

If you are interested in your child attending the readers club, simply come along to one of our mornings.  I will provide a variety of levelled readers to suit all needs.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school or myself directly at

Day: Every Monday       Time: 8:00—8:25am     Place: Library

During these sessions we will use karate belts as our motivation  (along with a lot of fun) to progress and demonstrate our proficiency  in hiragana.
