Developing strength in fingers and hands

There are many skills required for handwriting. Developing strength in fingers and hands can assist with handwriting endurance.

Differentiation

Our teachers at Palmwoods State School recognise that our students all have different learning needs and work very hard to ensure that each students’ learning needs are catered for, a process known as differentiation.

Getting organised

Getting organised can make life easier for all of us and can reduce stress levels and the time it takes to complete tasks.

Growth mindset

There’s an old saying “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again”. This saying demonstrates a growth mindset at work.

Growth mindset in maths

As a learner, when you look upon mistakes in this way, you start to relax into the learning process and recognise that it’s ok to not get things straight away.

Learning goals

A learning goal is a specific, next step challenge that is individualised for every child, in Maths, Writing and Reading.

Literacy and numeracy warm ups

We are often surprised that children appear to understand something but then a short time afterwards, they seem to forget what they have learnt! Brain research tells us that this is to be expected unless we revisit the information or tag it as important.

Reading at home

There is nothing more exciting for a child than learning to read and it’s up to us as the adults to support our children, whatever their reading journey!
