Some of the unique opportunities your child can experience at Palmwoods State School are:
Each year we run either Arts Alive or a school musical which allows every student to perform and express their artistic skills. Both these events are seen as a real highlight for our school and community in celebrating The Arts.
As an Independent Public School we are able to offer student in Years 3-6 an Excellence Program to provide those who meet the criteria the opportunity to reach their full potential in The Arts.
An instrumental music program is offered with strings, woodwind and brass teachers. Our Arts program includes choir and recorder band and learning activities culminate in a performance each year with whole school participation in a variety of events.
Our permaculture garden and woodworking programs offer a practical and hands on approach for learners as well as providing options during lunchtimes.
A camping program operates for Years 3-6 and many excursions take place to support units of work.
A swimming program occurs in Term 4 for Prep to Year 3 and we are fortunate to be able to access the local community pool which is a short walk from the school.
All our Years 3-6 students participate in our Enrichment Program in which they develop skills in a specific area over many weeks to produce something tangible they could not achieve with other programs.
Whole school participation takes place in our Annual Cross Country and Athletics Day events. In addition to this, many sports take place throughout the year and students are eligible for selection to represent the school, district and state in team and individual sports.
A student leadership program operates in Years 4-6. Staff nominate students for this program if students consistently display leadership qualities according to established criteria. School and vice captains, student councillors and house captains are also elected from this pool of student leaders.
