Library Makerspace room
Makerspaces are areas where students come to explore, build, create, and tinker.
Students are learning without turning to the front of the room for directions or receiving steps from the teacher at the centre. Stem education acts as platform for developing critical and creative thinking and the ability to innovate.
Palmwoods SS was successful in applying for an Australian Government, Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, Maker Projects Grant. We have used the Grant to create a Makerspace within our Resource Centre. This space is used by children in lunchtimes and for class curriculum work.
The room it well stocked and continues to grow. An example of our inventory include:
- Class set of EV3 MindStorm robots
- OzoBot Robots
- Sphero Robots
- UpMini 3D printer
- Class set of Makey Makey electronic boards
- Brain Storm electronic sets
- Range of OSMO sets
- GoldieBlox sets
- Lego electronic and mechanical sets
And numerous building materials and sets.
