Required apps are to be installed on the iPads of all students in the BYO iPad Program. This will need to be done at home prior to bringing the iPad to school.

Ensure you have read the Parent Quick Guide so that your child starts the year with their device ready to go.

Concept development and charter

In 2017, we trialled 4 BYO iPad classes across Year 2 and Year 5 at Palmwoods SS.

Due to the successful progress of the initiative, and demand from our community, we expanded the WeLearn program to all Year 2 - 6 classes.  Our WeLearn Charter Document has extensive notes on our program with information and guidelines for parents and students.

To ensure equitable access to learning opportunities and curriculum requirements, Palmwoods State School students may either:

  • Participate in the iPad Student Resource Scheme at a cost of $180 per year, where an iPad will be provided to your student and it will remain their device to use at school (it can not be taken home).

OR

  • Bring their own device (iPad) from home to school daily - standard size Apple iPad that can run a minimum of iOS 15.  iPad Mini's are not able to be used due to their small screen size.

Cybersafety and using the internet appropriately

At Palmwoods State School, we are committed to teaching our students skills related to cybersafety and using the internet appropriately. We expect that our students follow our three school rules Being Safe, Being Respectful and Being a Learner when engaging with ICT.
