Parents & Citizens Association

The Parents and Citizens Association consists of parents, staff and community members and is vital to the healthy functioning of our School. The role of the P&C Association is changing with more and more collaborative decision making taking place. The P&C encourages a good cross-section of our parent body, school staff and local community to become active members.

There is a growing trend towards greater participation by family and community members in all sectors of school life.  The P&C is another area where grandparents and retired community members are most welcome to become involved. In many family situations today, both parents work and have little time to attend meetings and to be classroom helpers. Grandparents could become your family representative for these activities.

The P&C manages the Tuckshop, Uniform shop and Out of School Hours Car service.

The P&C organsies many fundraining events throughout the year including Mother's day, Father's Day and Christmas Stalls, raffles, BBQ's, Movie nights and Pie Drives.

P&Cs Qld is the peak body supporting and representing more than 576,000* state school parents and wider school communities throughout Queensland. We support the achievement of quality educational outcomes for students through fostering parental and community engagement in a thriving and successful education system. Through our state-wide network of over 1200 P&C Associations and School Councils, we have the localised presence and voice to lead and enact change.

Our vision is to ensure "Every child has every chance" in education and in life.

Increased engagement with school parents and communities is a key part of P&Cs Qld's new focus with Parent Talk as a key resource for building parent and community engagement with their local school.  You can find Parent Talks latest publications by following this link:   Parent Talk - https://pandcsqld.com.au/members/publications/parent-talk/

Special mention must be made of the Heritage Bank Palmwoods Community Branch which has provided huge financial support for Palmwoods State School over the past seven years with donations totalling in excess of $157,000.  These funds have contributed significantly towards our new tuckshop, playground resurfacing and the costuming and staging of our highly successful school musicals.  A big thank you to Branch Manager, Sophia Di Ferdinando, the Board of Directors and Staff at the Palmwoods Community Branch.  The school also benefits from Heritage referrals.

We encourage all community members to be active participants in our school and look forward to you joining us at our meetings held in the staffroom on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7pm to 9pm.

Our P&C Association also now has its own dedicated Facebook page that keeps our families and community up to date with all the events and activities happening.
